The Feedblock & Die Matrix

At the center of Gwell's cast film extrusion technology is our high-efficiency co-extrusion feedblock system. Multi-layer structures—such as 3, 5, 7, or 9-layer barrier films containing EVOH or polyamide—require laminar flow alignment. If velocity profiles or shear distributions deviate even slightly, visual defects like encapsulation wave patterns or layer thickness variances will occur.

Our feedblocks use CFD-designed flow channels that accommodate varying polymer rheologies and flow behaviors. Combined with automated die lips adjusting dynamically through thermal bolt expansion systems, we keep the film thickness variance below 1% across the entire width of the film web.

Chill Roll & Winding Physics

For high-clarity cast film production (such as CPP and CPE), the rate of crystallization must be carefully managed. The molten polymer curtain exiting the die must be quenched instantly on the primary chill roll.
