Modern manufacturing demands systems that can process variable feedstock with precision. In response to this, our custom PP sheet extrusion lines feature highly customizable configurations. Traditional extruders often struggle with melt instability when the feedstock consists of virgin polymer blended with regrind material. GWELL's design addresses this through optimized screw geometries and high L/D ratios (typically 33:1 or 38:1) combined with specialized barrier zones and shearing elements. This facilitates stable thermal distribution and molecular chain alignment, which in turn reduces gauge variance and preserves physical performance criteria such as impact resistance and tensile load stability.
"Sustainable packaging initiatives necessitate the transition to thinner structures with improved barrier properties. Through co-extrusion technology, processors can sandwich structural recycled PP between thin, clean virgin PP layers, significantly reducing raw material cost while complying with international food-grade standards."
As the international economy moves toward carbon neutrality, extrusion machinery must adapt. The modern industrial environment requires equipment optimized for lower operational energy consumption per kilogram of produced plastic. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) and electromagnetic heating coils are integrated directly into our extruder barrels. This setup cuts heat-up times by half and achieves energy efficiency levels far exceeding traditional ceramic band heating and induction motors.
Whether setting up a plant in North America, Europe, or Southeast Asia, localized technical integration is paramount. This involves translating complex control parameters into local operating languages, configuring PLC systems (such as Siemens TIA Portal or Omron) to regional power grids, and meeting localized workplace safety guidelines (such as OSHA or CE). Our engineering team designs all components—from the initial feeding system to the automated cantilever winding unit—with quick-disconnect components and modular frames to ease field maintenance and integration.
GWELL's development roadmap focuses on closed-loop smart systems. Utilizing high-frequency thickness measuring devices placed after the calendar stacks, the PLC system automatically feeds adjustment signals to the flexible-lip die head. When thickness anomalies are detected, integrated thermal expansion bolts adjust the die lip gap in real-time, eliminating the need for manual operator interventions and keeping production scrap rates close to zero.

Recycled PP typically displays inconsistent melt flow indices (MFI) and higher levels of contamination. To address these issues, GWELL uses specialized barrier screws with high shearing capability, ensuring uniform thermal distribution. We also integrate automatic back-flush hydraulic screen changers to purge contaminants without interrupting the extrusion process. For multi-layer co-extrusion (A-B-A), processing the recycled material in the middle layer helps maintain the sheet's mechanical strength and surface quality.
We combine a precision melt pump with an automatic T-die and an online thickness gauge system. The melt pump ensures a stable output volume, minimizing pressure fluctuations at the die head. The thickness gauge measures the sheet profile in real-time, allowing the PLC to automatically adjust the thermal expansion bolts on the die lip, correcting thickness deviations within minutes.
Our lines utilize high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) paired with variable frequency drives, reducing electric power consumption. We also use electromagnetic heating systems for the extruder barrel, which transfer heat more efficiently than standard ceramic heaters, reducing thermal loss and energy use.
It is possible, but requires specific modifications. PET is highly hygroscopic and requires crystallized dehumidification pre-treatment (or a specialized multi-vent degassing twin-screw extruder), whereas PP does not. When using a single line for both, we design custom screw profiles and adjust the temperature control ranges, adding a gas venting system to handle both materials safely.
